Pilates Mat Class - 6 Week Block

This is a weekly mindful, mixed ability, mat-based Pilates class to keep you feeling mobile and strong and to teach you how to move well and healthily.

Each class offers a gentle full-body workout at a pace that keeps you relaxed and safe. Sometimes we will add small props like foam rollers, mini balls, bands and light weights to our practice to offer you a rich movement experience both for your brain and body. There will always be options for you to modify an exercise to the right level for you. The group will be small, with no more than 6 participants, meaning lots of individual attention to ensure great quality of movement.

If you are experiencing pain, are managing an injury or health condition you may be required or recommended to attend a 1-1 session first, to establish your safety in the group class and any contraindications. Equally, if you are new to Pilates, a 1-1 session would be recommended to teach you the Pilates fundamentals. This ensures high-quality content in the group class and better results, as you will understand the directions and exercises better and therefore are able to execute the exercises more precisely.

When you sign up for the 6-week block for this class, you will also be entitled to a 20% discount on any 1-1 Pilates/Coaching or Manual Therapy sessions with me during the time of the block.

You also have the option to drop into this class if there is availability, for £12 per class. Please contact me if you would like to drop in.

Release and Restore The Myofascial Mobilisation Class

This popular class will mobilise and relax your socks off. You will be guided through some simple breathing and relaxation exercises to calm your system, find focus and tune into the state of your connective tissue.

We often believe our muscles to be tight and try to stretch them off. Yet we do not seem to get much effect from all the stretching. Most of the time it is actually the fascia that our muscles are wrapped up in that is tight and inflexible and makes us feel stiff, achy and immobile.

This class will take you through a range of release and mobilisation exercises that will reach and target your connective tissue in ways you never have been able to with conventional stretches and exercises. You will find these movements and releases comfortable, satisfying, relaxing. Afterwards, you will feel powerfully different as you experience a much healthier state of your connective tissue all around and through your body. Everyone is welcome.

Functional Fun Functional Movement Class

Do you ever watch children as they jump and crawl around and wish you could move that effortlessly and naturally again?

This class is an opportunity for you to have fun with movement challenges that are much more functional, than any exercise you do at the gym. In this class, you are encouraged to reconnect with your inner child and the way you were able to move so effortlessly then. Free up your body and work muscles you never knew you had by transitioning from lying to sitting to standing with an organic, animal-like quality.

After some initial mental and physical warm-up exercises, we will explore developmental movement patterns, which will remind our body of our very first successful movement experiences when we learned to roll over, lift our head, reach, sit up, crawl and stand. Then we will up the challenge with more demanding movements to challenge strength, mobility, agility, coordination, balance, adaptability and physical resilience.

This class explores functional fitness in the true sense of the word while putting a smile on your face. It will help you improve confidence in your body and physical abilities during your everyday activities and feel thoroughly stretched and worked out.

This class may not be suitable for you if you are recovering from a recent back, hip or shoulder injury. If in doubt please feel free to contact me to discuss your situation or look at some of my other classes for alternatives.

Movement Meditation

This is a new 60 minute, mat-based class, focusing on physical and mental relaxation while restoring a sense of positivity and life energy in you.

In this class, we will be using repetitive, small and basic movements to help us be present and connected to our body. We will be going on an internal journey, using small movements, stillness, our senses and imagery to helps us change how we see our body, ourselves and our life. While engaging with our body in subtle ways we will focus on creative techniques developed from Neuro-linguistic Programming and Somatic Experiencing, to reconnect to the internal resources that help us feel the way we want to feel, we want to be, and more alive and present in general.

This class is suitable for anyone who would like to feel calmer, more positively connected to their body and more resourced to deal with life.

Studio Club

This class has a maximum of 3 participants. If space is available you can also use this block to visit Studio Club classes on other days.

Pilates Studio Club is a great opportunity for anyone who:

  • Would like an individual Pilates program, tailored specifically for their posture, weaknesses, rehab focus or goals.
  • Would like to benefit from working with the Pilates apparatus, such as the reformer, trapeze table, combo chair, mini-arc as well as small equipment and mat.
  • Is looking for a more affordable option than 1-1 sessions.
  • Would like to join a mat class, but feels that based on an injury or health condition they need a tailored program, that suits them.
  • Is seeking measurable progression.
  • Wants to have a new and different Pilates practice experience.

How does Pilates Studio Club work:

When you first join Pilates Studio Club you will get a discounted 1-1 session, in which we discuss your individual goals and needs. This may also include a postural and movement assessment. I will then put an initial program of exercises together for you and give you an introduction to the equipment and the exercises in your program.

After this session, you can then attend the weekly Pilates Studio Club class, in which you go through the exercises on your program card with some support and direction from me. There will be up to 3 other people in the studio with you, doing the same.
