Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB

  • would like an individual Pilates program, tailored specifically for their posture, weaknesses, rehab focus or goals.
  • would like to benefit from working with the Pilates apparatus, such as the reformer, trapeze table, combo chair, mini-arc as well as small equipment and mat.
  • is looking for a more affordable option than 1-1 sessions.

  • is seeking measurable progression.
  • wants to have a new and different pilates practice experience.

When you first join Pilates Studio Club you will get a discounted 1-1 session, in which we discuss your individual goals and needs. This may also include a postural and movement assessment. I will then put an initial program of exercises together for you and give you an introduction to the equipment and the exercises in your program.

After this session, you can then attend the weekly Pilates Studio Club class, in which you go through the exercises on your program card with some support and direction from me. There will be up to 3 other people in the studio with you, doing the same.

Master Your 1st Push-Up! - 6 Week Course

Hosted by: Kristin Loeer
Time & date:  13th June 19:30 to 20:15
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price: £60pp

This 6-week course will focus on your goal to finally be able to perform a decent push-Up.

Each session we will start warming up and mobilising our whole body and our shoulders and upper body in particular. We will practice good head, neck and shoulder organisation, which we need in order to create strong, comfortable and healthy planks and push-ups. We will thoroughly strengthen our whole body with a focus on upper body strength, to gradually build the power and stability we need for that one perfect push up. We will practice efficient techniques to weight-bear on our hands without neck and wrist tension.

You will also receive homework in the form of online videos, to remind you of what and how to practice at home in between sessions. By week 6 you may have mastered your first push up or at the very least feel you are on your way to it and know how to reach your goal with a little more time.

Each 45-minute session may be a little challenging at times, however, we will always keep a slow pace and focus on safety and good technique. Work WITH your body, rather than push it to the breaking point is the motto. As we will take a holistic and whole body approach the course will also be suitable for you, if you seek a general class to get more active and strong, as long as you are willing to focus on upper body strength.

Meditation Workshop

Hosted by: Louise Reader
Time & date:  23rd June 10:00-12:00
Hosted at: The Movement Base, 149 Leigh Road, SS9 1JF
Price: £30

A one-off workshop where you can come along and find out how meditation works, try it out, and go home with a meditation exercise you can do for yourself. The workshop is suitable for everyone if you have meditated before or not.

In this workshop, I will explain what meditation is and what it is not! Plus other interesting little snippets that I have learnt along my 'meditation journey'. I will also teach a number of different simple meditation and relaxation techniques that you can take away to practise and easily fit into your life.

Meditation is about training the mind and finding the right techniques for each person. For example, you can’t tell a busy mum to sit and meditate for an hour – it’s got to be something that’s right for you and your lifestyle. You don’t have to be religious. You don’t have to be a Buddhist. It’s about training the “monkey mind” – that part of your mind that runs all over the place and distracts you, making you feel stressed or overwhelmed can learn to be still and quiet.

It takes practice and discipline, but it’s worth it!

The class is limited to 8 people; I like to keep it simple and personalised.

Release and Restore - The Myofascial Mobilisation Class

Hosted by: Kristin Loeer
Time & date:  28th June 19:15 to 20:45
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price: £15pp

This popular class will mobilise and relax your socks off. You will be guided through some simple breathing and relaxation exercises to calm your system, find focus and tune into the state of your connective tissue. We often believe our muscles to be tight and try to stretch them off. Yet we do not seem to get much effect from all the stretching. Most of the time it is actually the fascia that our muscles are wrapped up in that is tight and inflexible and makes us feel stiff, achy and immobile. This class will take you through a range of release and mobilisation exercises that will reach and target your connective tissue in ways you never have been able to with conventional stretches and exercises. You will find these movements and releases comfortable, satisfying, relaxing. Afterwards, you will feel powerfully different as you experience a much healthier state of your connective tissue all around and through your body. Everyone is welcome.

If you suffer from injuries or health conditions contact Kristin for advice if this class is suitable for you.

Testimonials from previous classes:

"Thank you very much again for your wonderful class on Friday. I think I got more release in those 90 minutes than from any other therapy session over the last 3 years. So I'm very keen to return." Gerald H.

"I feel great after the workshop. I had a very stiff shoulder and hip before and they are both much better. Even having gone to a gig last night and standing for hours which usually means a very painful hip the following day!" Kate K.

Under-Standing Your Feet: Rediscover Your Feet and Ankles!

Hosted by: Yeu-Meng Chan
Time & date:  30th June 14:00 to 18:00
Hosted at: Feldenkrias Essex Studio, Westcliff On Sea, Essex
Price: £40pp (please book in advance)

Our feet are one of the most used bodily parts of us but we rarely pay any attention to them until we experience pain which impedes our ability to stand and walk easily.

There are 26 bones in the foot but we tend to think of our foot as just one solid block due to the shoes that we wear.  Lack of differentiation of movement in the ankle and foot can lead to poor balance which could, in turn, lead to knee and hip or even shoulder and neck pain.

In this workshop, we will explore and rediscover the vital connections between our feet and the floor and ultimately to our relationship with gravity.  This will greatly benefit runners, hikers or anyone who spends time on their feet.

July 2019

Restorative Pilates

Hosted by: Kristin Loeer
Time & date:  25th July 19:30 to 21:00
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price: £15 pp

This 90-minute class is a fusion of my popular Release & Restore class and Pilates.

We will mobilise and relax our socks off with some of those Feldenkrais inspired mobilisations, however, we will mix them up with Pilates exercises to bring stability work into the mix, to get the best of both worlds.

With our bodies all chilled out, mobilised and relaxed we will then easily flow into the subtle intensities of Pilates and out again before you, or your body has even noticed them being a challenge. With your body so perfectly prepared, you will find that instantly you have more ease in your movements and better access to your stabilising abilities. You will find that with the right preparation, like this, there is no need to ever push your body through a Pilates exercise with force. Yet all the benefits of Pilates practice will still be yours.

The fusion of mindful, mobilising movements and gentle strength work will not only make your body feel freer, stronger, more relaxed and revitalised. You will also feel calmer in your mind, your stress levels will be much reduced and you will feel more confident and capable in your body.

If you suffer from injuries or health conditions contact Kristin for advice if this class is suitable for you.

"Thank You very much for everything, Kristin. The exercises help massively! Maybe even too much 'cos I feel much better, get lazy, and stop doing them ;-). You really know and CARE what you are doing." - Honorata W.
