Release and Restore - The Myofascial Mobilisation Class

Hosted by: Kristin Loeer
Time & date: 16 August 2018 at 18:30–20:00
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price: £15pp

This popular class will mobilise and relax your socks off. You will be guided through some simple breathing and relaxation exercises to calm your system, find focus and tune into the state of your connective tissue. We often believe our muscles to be tight and try to stretch them off. Yet we do not seem to get much effect from all the stretching. Most of the time it is actually the fascia that our muscles are wrapped up in that is tight and inflexible and makes us feel stiff, achy and immobile.

This class will take you through a range of release and mobilisation exercises that will reach and target your connective tissue in ways you never have been able to with conventional stretches and exercises. You will find these movements and releases comfortable, satisfying, relaxing. Afterwards you will feel powerfully different as you experience a much healthier state of your connective tissue all around and through your body.

Everyone is welcome. If you suffer from injuries or health conditions contact Kristin for advice if this class is suitable for you.

Evening Mat Pilates - 6 Week Block

Hosted by: Kristin Loeer
Time & date: 4 September 2018 at 18:30–19:30
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price:  £60pp for 6 weeks or £12 per session

This is a weekly mindful, mixed ability, mat-based Pilates class to keep you feeling mobile and strong and to teach you how to move well and healthily.

Each class offers a gentle full body workout at a pace that keeps you relaxed and save. Sometimes we will add small props like foam rollers, mini balls, bands and light weights to our practice to offer you a rich movement experience both for your brain and body. There will always be options for you to modify an exercise to the right level for you. The group will be small with no more than 6 participants, meaning lots of individual attention to ensure great quality of movement.

If you are experiencing pain, are managing an injury or health condition you will usually be required to attend a 1-1 session first. Equally, if you are new to Pilates you may be required to attend an "Introduction to Pilates Fundamentals" class or a 1-1 session to teach you the Pilates fundamentals first. This ensures high quality content in the group class and better results, as you will understand the directions and exercises better and therefore are able to execute the exercises more precisely.

When you sign up for the 6 week block for this class you will also be entitled to a 20% discount on any 1-1 Movement/Coaching or Manual Therapy sessions with me during the time of the block. You will also gain access to a private Facebook Group and Vimeo Account where you will find weekly videos, talking you through an exercise or exercise sequence in detail so you can practice at home if you choose to.

You also have the option to drop in to this class if there is availability for £12 per class. Please contact me if you would like to drop in.

Understanding Diabetes

Time & date: 17 October 2018, 19:00-20:30
Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB
Price: £10pp

Diabetes is on the rise, not just in the UK but across the Western world. In the UK, 3.77 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, but many more are thought to suffer from it, only they have not been diagnosed yet. The total number of diabetics in the UK is estimated to be at 4.6 million (numbers by Diabetes UK).

These are frightening numbers, particularly since the most common form of diabetes – type 2 – is now known to be almost entirely diet and lifestyle related and to be completely preventable in the majority of cases!

In my talk “Understanding Diabetes” I will explain how diabetes develops, how it is currently treated, the latest science and what people with diabetes and pre-diabetes can do to manage the illness better. Although the talk will focus on type 2 diabetes, all forms of diabetes will be touched upon and it will be of interest to type 1 sufferers as well.

Hosted at: The Body Matters, Business Land, 8 Madeira Ave, Southend on Sea, SS9 3EB

Sleep can seem like a bit of a waste of time, can’t it? We’re all busy, who can find the time to sleep anymore? Have you ‘trained’ yourself to get by with less? But even those of us who do appreciate sleep and do go to bed at a reasonable time may find themselves tossing and turning and, try as we might, we just can’t sleep ...

Over the last few years, much research has been done into sleep: What happens in our body while we sleep? Do we need sleep at all? How much? What can we do to enhance sleep? Can we ‘learn’ to need less sleep?

Join me at my talk on the fascinating subject of sleep. Learn how you can enhance your chances to get the sleep you need and how diet and lifestyle can support you in that quest.
