Do You Regularly Suffer from Headaches?

If you are a regular headache sufferer, have you ever tried massage and relaxation techniques?

As much as there are medical reasons for some headaches, the majority of headaches (research suggests as much as 90% of headaches) are what is known as tension-type. Stress and anxiety cause hormonal changes and can often lead to tension in the shoulders and neck muscles and pressurise the neck and the attachments under the head. Static positions for sedentary type jobs over many hours daily contribute to discomfort and maintain consistent tension patterns that can cause headaches in some individuals.

Because the life and work stresses are consistent, the headaches become far more regular than necessary. Often a good massage can give relief for these types of symptoms, however, the experience may be fairly short-term. My approach will help relieve the symptoms and guide relaxation techniques that can help maintain less pain for longer and even lead to fewer headaches or lower pain levels when you have a headache.

I pride myself on having a good understanding of the types of headaches and how they present with different types of symptoms and positions of pain. Through conversations with my patients, I get an understanding of potential lifestyle factors that contribute to symptoms as well as ways they may currently manage their own headaches. This information can help me determine the best way to help them with longer-term management strategies and help them gain self-efficacy and control their headaches better.

If you do struggle with headaches, then we are here to help, so please get in touch for a consultation and treatment session and experience if it’s the right thing for you.
